Job Description

  • To provide quality technical support service in handling complex and escalated technical inquiries, troubleshooting of routing and switching enterprise technologies in complex networking environments.
  • Primarily supports Broadview Networks’ hosted IP product which currently accounts for 10% of Broadview's total revenue and be to grow significantly over the next year as the hosted IP product accounts for 50-60% of Broadview’s current sales.
  • Provides and maintains network connectivity services for Broadview Networks.
  • Performs device configurations, internal operating system upgrades, and software upgrades and deploys network devices including (but not limited to) routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Assists with troubleshooting circuit equipment and all other network issues.
  • Monitors, responds, and provides resolution for all network problem and incident tickets.
  • Utilizing case management system (CMS), documents status updates and problem resolutions.
  • Troubleshooting includes routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, Layer 3 switching).
  • Configuring Cisco Routers – From port opening, static IP mapping to access-list changes.
  • IP addresses identification and sub-netting.
  • Fundamental understanding of DS1/DSO assignment and CSU/DSU.
  • VoIP Technology.
  • DNS setup and administration of domain name(s) w/ associated zone files.
  • VLAN setup and administration w/ Cisco Switches.
  • Command Line Interface (CLI) administration of Cisco Routers and Switches.
  • Work with customers who are connecting Broadview's MPLS network as most technical customers are utilizing Cisco routers and assist them with turn-ups and acquisitions.
  • Follows documented network services processes and procedures - identifies gaps in processes or documentation and suggests improvements.
  • Responds to customer requests as defined by management completing assignments in a timely manner with an acceptable level of quality.
  • Troubleshoots network problems and recommends corrective procedures.
  • Prepares activity reports as requested by management.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve workflow and creates supporting documentation for review by peers and management.
  • Maintains network services documentation related to work area.
  • Completes network change requests in accordance with service level agreements.
  • Assist Broadview Networks Field Technical Representatives who are onsite with customers.
  • Assist on scheduled conference calls with Broadview customers and field technical representatives.
  • Perform other duties as instructed by Broadview Networks management.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in network repair or maintenance environment.
  • Preferably with technical certifications: Cisco/Juniper.
  • These agents will work with customers who are connecting Broadview Networks’ MPLS Network (most customers are utilizing Cisco routers) and assist them with turn-ups/Activations and acquisitions.
  • Experience supporting or servicing customers in person or via phone.
  • Communicates ideas both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise, and professional manner
  • Knowledge of network technologies (i.e. routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, network and routing protocols, DNS).
  • Knowledge of basic IT technologies (i.e. operating systems, network devices, software development and architecture).
  • Strong SIP device knowledge, extensive familiarity with Cisco routers, as well as basic static routing and network VRF standards.
  • Complex routing protocols including BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, RIPV2 and SLA, as well as proficiency in firewall setups covering ACL’s, UDP and TCP are of course recommended, but not absolutely required.
  • Requires knowledge of basic Microsoft office tools.
  • Ability to understand and apply technical concepts.
  • Team skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Flexibility, versatility, dependability on organizational skills and abilities to self-manage workload.
  • Capable of generating new ideas and continuous improvement efforts.
